Scope of Responsibilities
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for performing routine and general electrical and maintenance assignments within the Plant. This role ensures the safe, efficient maintenance, service, and repair of all machinery and equipment. Responsibilities include executing scheduled tasks at designated intervals, as well as addressing additional assignments as they arise.
This position requires consistent documentation of all activities and observations related to equipment condition, utilizing the appropriate record-keeping systems. The Maintenance Electrician also partners closely with Operators, providing hands-on support in troubleshooting and resolving equipment-related issues to maintain optimal production performance.
In alignment with company policies, procedures, and all applicable regulatory codes and standards, this role plays a critical part in promoting and upholding safety, quality, and food safety across all product lines. The Maintenance Electrician is expected to actively recommend, implement, and help manage continuous improvements in these areas.
The responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive but are intended to provide a comprehensive overview of the scope of work:
- Troubleshoot and repair complex control systems, including PLCs, VFDs, servos, HMIs, instrumentation devices, and communication networks
- Diagnose root causes of equipment malfunctions and execute proper repair or replacement procedures
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to safely isolate and de-energize equipment prior to maintenance work
- Identify, address, and report unsafe conditions within the Plant, maintaining a strong commitment to safety in all tasks
- Assist Operators in equipment operation during troubleshooting or when issues arise
- Continuously develop and enhance knowledge of Plant systems, equipment, and components as required or directed
Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrated electrical aptitude and technical skill set, as evaluated by the Maintenance Manager
- Strong problem-solving ability, with a focus on identifying root causes within complex systems
- Ability to assess how decisions and solutions impact key stakeholders
- Proactively considers how immediate actions align with and support overall business objectives
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Electrician
Working Conditions:
This role requires the ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and work in varying environmental conditions, including:
- Climbing (ladders, stairs, etc.)
- Balancing (maintaining body equilibrium)
- Stooping (bending at the waist)
- Kneeling (on one or both knees)
- Crouching (bending at the knees)
- Crawling
- Lying down (on back, stomach, or side)
- Reaching (extending arms from shoulder, with or without bending the elbow)
- Handling (using the whole hand)
- Lifting while seated
- Fingering (fine motor skills using fingers only)
- Feeling (perceiving texture, temperature, etc.)
- Kicking or pressing with foot/feet
- Working in confined spaces (limited side-to-side movement)
- Operating in areas with low clearance
- Working at heights (ladders, roofs, elevated surfaces, etc.)
- Navigating uneven floors or ground surfaces
- Working near openings in floors or ground
- Exposure to buildup on floor or ground surfaces
- Near visual acuity (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
